Fremont Well City Initiative
Well City USA, a nationally recognized program of the Wellness Councils of America (WELCOA) is a community-wide initiative that encourages employers to develop worksite wellness programs that meet the standards of excellence as defined by the Well Workplace Model.The Wellness Council of the Midlands (WELCOM) is the nation's first Wellness Council with more than 145 member organizations and 100,000 employee members in the Omaha area.
The Fremont Well City Initiative is a goal to make Fremont, Nebraska, a Well City by 2013. The primary requirement for achieving this designation is that 20% of the community's working population (with a minimum of 20 companies) must be employed by a designated Well Workplace Award winning company.
Wellness at Work
Seven businesses, American National Bank, First State Bank & Trust, Fremont National Bank, Fremont Area Medical Center, Fremont Family YMCA, Hormel Food Corporation, and Nye Senior Services, have received awards:* American National Bank - Small Business Award
* Fremont Area Medical Center - Gold Level
* First State Bank and Trust - Gold Level
* Fremont National Bank - Silver Level
* Fremont Family YMCA - Silver Level
* Hormel Food Corporation - Gold Level
* Nye Senior Services - Gold Level
Currently, several more businesses in Fremont are pursuing similar awards. They continue to lead the community in this effort by providing technical assistance to worksites regarding results-oriented worksite wellness programs.
