Did you know that every two minutes, a child is treated in an emergency room for an unintentional cycle-related incident? More children ages 5 to 14 are seen in emergency rooms for biking related-injuries than any other sport. Helmet use is the most effective way to reduce bicycle-related fatalities.

SK3R works with community partners to hold events to raise awareness about bicycle safety by distributing informational materials and bike helmets to promote safely biking to school, proper helmet fit and creating safe routes to school.

SK3R holds a bike rodeo in each of the three county districts, usually during the summer months. At the bike rodeos, all participating children in attendance receive a free bike helmet and fitting by our staff. A safety obstacle course is also performed, usually by local law enforcement, to educate children on what to look out for when riding their bikes.

Bike safety presentations are also done for students at our local schools.
